The golf course in Big Spring, Texas, was named for the trail the Comanches used to take when they were escaping west from Texas.
A short distance northwest of Big Spring, the trail now goes by the name “Old Concho Trail.” But to the Comanches, it was, well, a trail. It was a rough, stony road, and when the Comanches were on the run, it didn’t matter much whether they had a road or a trail.
A road, however, was better than a trail. A road was better because it meant that, if you were careful, you could travel it without losing everything.

This course has been a source of pride for many Big Spring residents.
