What are the different types of Recreational Vehicle Parks?
There are three main kinds of RV parks: private, public and resort. Private parks are the most common type of park. Most parks are privately owned and operated although there are some exceptions such as state or county operated parks. Public parks, on the other hand, are owned and operated by a government entity such as a city, county or state. Resort parks, however, are usually privately owned but offer more amenities than private parks. Resorts also tend to be more expensive than private RV parks but they offer more amenities such as swimming pools and/or spas, clubhouse with a kitchen area, exercise room, cable TV hookups and even Internet access in some cases.
The cost for an RV space can range from $200 to over $800 per month depending on the amenities offered by the park and its location in relation to major metropolitan areas. So when looking for an RV park it is important to consider what kind of amenities you want along with where you will be traveling to.”
Many of us are familiar with the many different types of RV Parks but there are still some that you may not be aware of. With that being said, here is a quick guide to what types of RV Parks exist and how to find them.
My favorite type of RV Park would have to be an Oasis. This is a park that is planned out and has several amenities. They usually have some sort of playground for children and a pool for adults to enjoy when the weather is nice out. These parks also usually have some sort of grilling area where you can cook while others watch the game or take the kids swimming.
After we did our homework on the different types of RV Parks, we decided to visit the Flagstaff area. We had been in a lot of RV parks that were older and very crowded and I was looking for something that was newer and offered more space to spread out. Flagstaff had several nice options including one called Whispering Pines that looked like a typical desert park.
So we headed over to take a look at it. This was a beautiful place with lots of trees, grass and walking trails. There were several sites available but they were going fast so we needed to get one quick.
We took a look at two sites and then chose the one furthest away from the road because it was large enough for our rig, truck and trailer to park all together. Our site included a picnic table and fire ring, which is all we really needed because most of the time it’s just me and my wife that are out there with her parents or other family members. The park also had laundry facilities, restrooms, water hookups and cable TV, which came in handy when my son got sick while we were staying here.

You also have traditional campgrounds. These are the kind that most people think of when they imagine RV parks. They offer hookups for your utilities, full hookups for your motorhome, and tent sites. They also feature amenities like restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and a clubhouse.
